Forge d'Uza, Historical forge in Uza, France.
Forge d'Uza is a 19th-century smithy located on Rue du Lac containing a collection of metalworking tools and forge equipment. The building preserves the workshop structure and installations that were essential for daily production work.
The Lur-Saluces family founded the forge in the 18th century using local iron ore and charcoal resources available in the region. Operations continued at the site until 1981, powered by water from nearby sources.
The workshop shows how metalworking shaped the region's economy and provided livelihoods for generations in the community.
The workshop can be visited during special heritage events since it is privately owned and has restricted access. Plan your visit in advance by checking when the site opens to the public.
This was one of the last forges in the region still powered by water when it closed in 1981. This combination of traditional metalworking and water power is rarely seen today.
