The church features a rectangular layout with ribbed vaults in the nave and a square tower attached to its third bay section.

The church originated in the 8th century as part of Saint-Pierre priory, which belonged to the Saint-Cybard Abbey of Angoulême.

The crypt, classified as a historical monument in 1945, contains wall paintings and divides into four compartments around a central pillar.

The church maintains regular Sunday mass services under the guidance of Father Robert within the Diocese of Angoulême.

Former French President François Mitterrand received baptism in this church and his funeral ceremony took place here in 1996.
