Bassac Abbey

Bassac Abbey is a Gothic church in the French village of Bassac featuring pointed arches and large windows characteristic of the style. The structure displays architectural elements from different construction periods spanning several centuries.

The abbey was founded in 1002 after a local noble couple returned from Rome and received its formal consecration in 1015. This founding period coincided with an expansion of monasteries in the French wine region.
