Pont de Nogent-sur-Marne, Road bridge between Nogent-sur-Marne and Champigny-sur-Marne, France.
Pont de Nogent-sur-Marne is a steel bridge that crosses the Marne River in three sections measuring 77, 7.5, and 67 meters, supported by a central Y-shaped pillar. The structure connects Nogent-sur-Marne with Champigny-sur-Marne and serves road traffic along with local movement between the two areas.
An earlier crossing existed here from 1866 to 1896, when a metal structure with three spans on stone pillars was built to serve transportation needs. The current bridge replaced that original structure to handle modern traffic volumes and updated infrastructure requirements.
The bridge includes a concrete sculpture of a water nymph built into its design, connecting with other art pieces found along the Marne River. This reflects how the region combines practical infrastructure with artistic elements for visitors and residents.
The bridge was recently upgraded with a dedicated pedestrian and cycling path added in 2023, connecting Nogent-sur-Marne marina to Tremblay Park in Champigny-sur-Marne. This separate lane keeps walkers and cyclists away from vehicle traffic for safer crossing.
Noise reduction barriers stretching about 500 meters run along the bridge and its approaches, shielding nearby residential areas from traffic sounds. This engineering feature reveals how residential comfort was prioritized in the design.
