Tuc der Òme, Mountain summit in Ariège, France and Naut Aran, Spain.

Tuc der Òme is a mountain summit in the Pyrenees on the border between France and Spain, with its structure formed from slate rock formations. The peak connects multiple valleys through an extended ridge system and offers hikers varied terrain ranging from forested sections to rocky passages.

The peak has been recorded in regional records for generations as an important landmark among Pyrenean communities. A memorial at the summit marks the memory of a climber who died there in winter conditions when a snow cornice failed.

The mountain name reflects the linguistic diversity of this border region, where Occitan, Catalan, and Spanish coexist in daily use. Visitors can observe this cultural layering in how local communities refer to the peaks and valleys surrounding them.

The ascent from Étang de Lers passes through forest paths and rocky terrain that requires reasonable fitness and preparation. Weather conditions can change rapidly at elevation, so warm and waterproof clothing is essential even during warmer months when snow may still be present.

The peak stands roughly 200 meters above the surrounding terrain, making it a distinctive landmark within the ridge system. This elevation difference creates varied sight lines and reveals distant valleys that remain hidden from view at other nearby summits.
