Place Clémenceau is a central public space covering approximately 107,600 square feet (10,000 square meters) that connects major city streets and serves as a social gathering point for residents and visitors in Pau.

Originally called Place de la Nouvelle-Halle, the site was home to religious buildings including a chapel, cemetery, and convent founded around 1616 before being transformed into a market square in 1837.

The square has hosted social and cultural events throughout its history, including concerts by Édith Piaf and boxing matches featuring Marcel Cerdan, and continues to serve as a venue for community festivals and markets.

Located in the heart of Pau at the intersection of rue Maréchal-Joffre and avenues leading to boulevard des Pyrénées, the square is easily accessible on foot and features parking facilities, public benches, and landscaped gardens nearby.

The Fontaine La Source, sculpted by Paul Auban in 1913, stands as a focal point of the square, while the Art Deco Palais des Pyrénées, completed in 1930, resembles an ocean liner in its design.
