Place des Tapis is a pedestrian square in Lyon's 4th arrondissement, linking Boulevard de la Croix-Rousse and Boulevard des Canuts. Its shape is more that of an avenue of varying width than a conventional square. The paving is small grey cobblestones in fan patterns, with large smooth grey stone forms set directly on the ground, and plane trees along the edges.

Between 1863 and 1905 the square held the freight station of the Lyon-Croix-Rousse line to Trévoux. The passenger station was moved here in 1914, and passenger service on the line ended in 1953; part of the route later became metro line C. A parking area occupied part of the square until restructuring work in 2013.

The name does not refer to weavers: it comes from the grass "carpets" that once grew at the foot of the old ramparts. The square is really a wide, variable-width avenue linking Boulevard de la Croix-Rousse and Boulevard des Canuts, and since the 2013 redevelopment it has served as a meeting place for pedestrians and shoppers.

The square is easily accessible via the nearby Croix-Rousse metro station and nearby bicycle rental stations. The open layout makes it easy to navigate, and multiple paths connect to surrounding streets and neighborhoods.
