Moulin de Claude François, House museum in Dannemois, France.
The Moulin de Claude François is a house museum in Dannemois, France, located in a former mill on the banks of the Essonne River. The exhibition rooms contain stage costumes, personal belongings, and photographs from the French singer's career and private life.
The building served as a mill since the 12th century before the singer acquired it in 1964. He had the property renovated over nine years and lived here until his death in 1978.
The performer spent his final years here and regularly welcomed guests from the French entertainment world. The rooms show his passion for design and technical innovations that were considered modern in the 1970s.
Guided tours last one hour and operate on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 11:00, 14:30, 15:30, and 16:30. The property sits just outside the village center and can be reached via a quiet road along the river.
The performer designed the English garden surrounding the mill himself and planned every detail personally. Some of the original landscape elements from the 1960s and 1970s have remained to this day.
