Square Jean-Baptiste-Daviais, Urban park in central Nantes, France.
The square features a semicircular design with landscaped gardens, protective walls against western winds, and a central circular basin for children.
The space was developed in the 1930s by architect Étienne Coutan following the filling of Loire River branches that surrounded Feydeau Island.
The municipal council named the square in 1946 after Jean-Baptiste Daviais, a community activist who died in Dachau concentration camp in 1945.
The park includes two community gardens, one managed by the city and another participatory space where residents can grow plants with local associations.
When first inaugurated, the square restricted access to women and children, leading to the installation of external benches for other visitors.
