Rencontres internationales de cerfs-volants de Berck

The meeting gathers kite flyers from around the world on a wide sandy beach and displays a varied collection of handmade and modern creations. The event takes place in April and transforms the beach into a living canvas for different types of kites.

This coastal town has a long history with flight activities dating back to the late 1800s, when pioneers used kites for aerial photography. This early connection to flying eventually led to the establishment of today's international gathering.

The festival displays traditional kite-making methods from many countries, and visitors can learn from international artisans how regional designs and techniques work.

The beach is easy to reach from the town center, and parking areas are available nearby for visitors arriving by car. During the ten-day event, conditions are best on sunny days with moderate breezes.

On stage, specialized teams perform choreographed kite ballets, moving multiple kites simultaneously with artfully coordinated strings. These synchronized performances blend traditional flying skills with artistic movements danced to music.
