Parc du Petit Prince is a 24-hectare theme park in Ungersheim built around a central circular pond, with a cross-shaped walkway leading to a small island. A red, white and blue tethered balloon rises above a circular base, and a white lattice tower with a red base stands near a covered structure. The site keeps the layout of the former Bioscope, centred on a simulated meteorite crash, and adds scenery from Saint-Exupéry's tale, including a biplane.
The site hosted Bioscope, an environment-themed park, from 2006 until its closure on 30 September 2012. In 2013 Jérôme Giacomoni and Matthieu Gobbi of Aerophile SAS won the call for projects with a Little Prince concept, backed by Olivier d'Agay, Saint-Exupéry's great-nephew. Parc du Petit Prince opened on 1 July 2014 across 24 hectares, keeping the meteorite-crash layout and adding scenery such as a biplane; it drew 90,000 visitors that first season and passed 200,000 in 2017.
The park draws inspiration from Saint-Exupéry's novel and incorporates scenes and characters throughout its spaces. Visitors encounter themed zones that bring moments from the story to life in ways they can walk through and explore.
The park is open seasonally on varying days and can be reached by car or public transport from nearby towns. Comfortable clothing and shoes are recommended, as visiting typically takes half a day or more.
A tethered balloon lifts visitors into the air and shows the park's circular design and surrounding landscape from above. This ride offers a special perspective on the entire site and the Alsace region.
