La Fondation du doute, Contemporary art center in Blois, France.
La Fondation du doute is a contemporary art center in Blois with two exhibition floors and a central courtyard displaying approximately 300 works by around 50 artists. The collection spreads across multiple gallery spaces with various installations and objects.
The center was founded in the 1990s based on artist Ben Vautier's vision to create a space for the Fluxus movement. This artistic direction emerged in the 1960s and fundamentally shaped the foundation's purpose.
The space displays works by international artists such as Allan Kaprow, Yoko Ono, and Joseph Beuys that engage with questions about art and everyday life. Visitors encounter pieces that invite questioning of the ordinary.
Access is through rue de la Paix and opening hours are Wednesday through Sunday in the afternoon. Visitors should note that hours may vary by season, so checking ahead is recommended.
At the entrance stand approximately 300 inscribed tablets that Ben Vautier created in 1995, posing questions about the nature of art and everyday life. This wall installation became a defining feature of the place from its opening.
