Hannibal, Stone statue in Tuileries Garden, Paris, France

The Hannibal statue depicts the Carthaginian general counting rings from Roman knights after the Battle of Cannae in stone craftsmanship.

Sculptor Sébastien Slodtz created this statue between 1687 and 1704 for the Château de Versailles before its relocation to Tuileries Garden in 1722.

The statue represents Hannibal Barca, the military commander who led forces across the Alps during the Second Punic War against Rome.

The stone sculpture stands in the Grand Allee section of Tuileries Garden, with access through multiple garden entrances from Rue de Rivoli.

The base of the statue contains an inscription with the artist signature 'Seb Slodtz' and the year 1722 marking its placement.
