Veturia is a marble statue in the Tuileries Garden of Paris, located near the Octagonal Grand Basin. The work stands about 2.5 meters tall and is carved from white stone.
The work was completed in 1695 by Pierre Le Gros the Younger and arrived in Paris in 1715. It was placed in its current permanent location within the garden in 1722.
The statue depicts a Roman matron whose name held different meanings throughout art history. Visitors can observe today how this figure was portrayed as a symbol of female influence.
The statue can be viewed daily when the Tuileries Garden is open to visitors. The grounds offer accessible pathways and are easy to reach on foot.
