Julius Caesar, Marble statue in Tuileries Garden, France

Julius Caesar is a marble statue in Tuileries Garden, created by Ambrogio Parisi and standing three meters tall. The work depicts the Roman leader holding a scroll in his left hand, positioned in the Grand Carre section of the garden.

The statue was commissioned in 1711 for the Gardens of Versailles. It was moved later to its current home in Tuileries Garden in central Paris.

The statue shows how French artists portrayed important Roman figures through classical sculpture. You can see the blend of admiration for the ancient world in the way the work was created and displayed.

The statue is located in the Grand Carre section of Tuileries Garden with clear views toward the Luxor Obelisk. It is easily accessible by walking through the garden and can be viewed from different angles throughout the day.

The work carries the inventory number MR 2099 and has a specific width of 1.2 meters. This unusual width-to-height ratio makes it stand out as a uniquely balanced composition.
