The Manufacture des Tabacs de Strasbourg is an industrial building in the Krutenau district with a central courtyard surrounded by multiple wings. The complex now houses several educational institutions that occupy the former production spaces.
Construction began in 1849 and finished in 1852 as a tobacco manufacturing facility serving France's industry. Production ceased in 2008, after which the site was converted for educational purposes.
Following its designation as a historical monument in 2016, the building transformed into an educational hub housing geoscience institutes and art schools.
The site includes a youth hostel and restaurant that are open to visitors, allowing you to explore the grounds at your own pace. Both facilities make it easy to spend time on the property comfortably.
