Founded in 1892 after Alsace-Moselle's annexation to the German Empire, the school emerged as a response to local artistic education needs.
The institution incorporates both French and German educational approaches, offering programs in graphic design, textile design, and product development.
Students have access to specialized workshops with technical equipment and receive guidance from professionals in various artistic disciplines.
The school merged with Mulhouse Art School and Strasbourg Music Academy in 2011 to form the Rhine Higher School of Arts.
