Ferme de Meslay, Medieval farm in Parçay-Meslay, France
The Meslay Farm features a monumental entrance gate with a vaulted passage and a large barn divided into five naves by oak posts.
Built around 1220 under Abbot Hughes de Rochecorbon, this farm belonged to the Marmoutier Abbey and suffered damage during the Hundred Years War.
The farm's architectural elements, including its fortified walls and thirteenth-century design, represent the agricultural methods of medieval monastic communities.
The site opens for guided tours and hosts private events, including a music festival established in 1964 by pianist Sviatoslav Richter.
The barn's wooden framework, reconstructed in the 15th century, spans 60 meters and features four rows of posts supporting an intricate oak structure.
