Departmental archives of Côtes-d'Armor, Departmental archives in Saint-Brieuc, France.
The Departmental archives of Côtes-d'Armor house over 20 linear kilometers of historical documents in a purpose-built facility designed specifically for the preservation and consultation of departmental archival collections.
Established in 1796 following the law of 5 Brumaire Year V, these archives moved to their current building constructed between 1985 and 1988 to meet modern conservation requirements.
The institution regularly organizes temporary exhibitions and educational activities to promote local heritage and raise public awareness about the regional history of Côtes-d'Armor.
Open Tuesday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, the archives provide free access to original and digitized documents through their reading room and official website.
The archives contain a remarkable collection of handwritten 17th-century letters discovered during renovations, providing rare insights into historical customs and social relationships of that period.
