Petite cascade de Tendon, Mountain waterfall in Tendon, France.
The Petite Cascade de Tendon is a multi-tiered waterfall in the Vosges mountains that drops over layered rock formations in a wooded valley. The cascading water pools in natural basins between rocky ledges as it makes its way downhill.
The waterfall has served as a natural landmark along ancient pathways that once connected the villages of Tendon and Le Tholy. These routes functioned as important travel corridors through the mountainous communities for centuries.
Local residents maintain traditional hiking routes around the cascade, preserving natural pathways that showcase the water features of the Vosges department.
A short gravel path of about 200 meters leads from the parking area to the waterfall and is easy to walk for most visitors. Benches are positioned at different viewpoints where you can see the cascades from various angles.
The water flow changes dramatically with the seasons, reaching its strongest rush during early spring when mountain snow melts into the stream. In dry summer months, the roar diminishes greatly and the water becomes a gentle trickle.
