La Seine Musicale, Performing arts center in Boulogne-Billancourt, France
La Seine Musicale is a concert hall and performing venue on Île Seguin in Boulogne-Billancourt near Paris. The building combines glass, steel, and timber into a multi-story complex with rehearsal rooms, restaurants, and exhibition areas.
The facility rose from 2013 onward on the grounds of a former Renault factory on Île Seguin. The ensemble was inaugurated in 2017 and revived a river island that had lain dormant for years.
The complex comprises two main performance spaces: the Patrick Devedjian Auditorium for classical concerts and the Grande Seine for contemporary music events.
Access to the island is via a pedestrian bridge or by ferry from the opposite bank. Arriving visitors should allow some buffer time before performances for entry checks.
The movable solar array shaped like a sail rotates during the day and generates electricity for the entire complex. Its semicircular construction gives the building a widely recognizable silhouette above the Seine.
