Constructed between 1858 and 1861 by architect Jean-Marie-Anselme Lablatinière, this building served as the official residence for Lyon's military governor during France's strategic military expansion period.
The interior preserves original Napoleon III-style furnishings, Aubusson tapestries, bronze and crystal chandeliers, and formerly housed artworks by renowned masters including Delacroix and Géricault.
Located at 38 avenue Foch in Lyon's 6th arrondissement, the building opens to the public during Heritage Days, offering guided tours of its historic rooms and architectural features.
The building contains preserved horse stables with original mangers arranged in a semicircle, featuring Mansard roofs with ten bull's-eye windows including a central clock mechanism.
