Rabastens - château de Saint-Géry

Saint-Géry Castle is a medieval fortress with three residential wings arranged around an interior courtyard, while the fourth side opens toward a forecourt with outbuildings. The structure displays typical castle architecture with thick walls and practical room layout.

The castle was founded in the 13th century as a fortified residence and was seized in 1349 by order of King Philip VI, then given to Antoine de Baulat for rebuilding. It later served as a home for several important families over the centuries.

The castle has been a family residence for centuries and remains a defining landmark in the town's landscape. Its presence shapes how locals and visitors understand the region's character.

The site is best visited during warmer months when it opens regularly to guests. Walking paths guide visitors through the courtyard and surrounding grounds, making the layout easy to explore at a comfortable pace.

The grounds feature ancient trees that are several centuries old, offering pleasant views toward the Tarn River below. These mature specimens create a distinctive setting that shaped the castle's original appeal.
