Hôtel de Pompadour, 18th-century private mansion in Fontainebleau, France

The mansion features classical French architecture with symmetrical facades, ornate doorways, and multiple courtyards spread across its extensive grounds.

Built in 1749 for Madame de Pompadour, the mansion later housed several governors of Fontainebleau Castle after her death in 1764.

The interior spaces contain original decorative elements from the 1700s, including painted panels and carved wooden ornaments by artist Alexis Peyrotte.

Located at 3 Boulevard Magenta, the privately owned property requires advance arrangements through heritage organizations for research visits.

The construction of this grand residence took only nine months to complete and cost 216,382 livres at the time.
