Manufacture des Tabacs

The brick building complex stretches along the Brienne canal, featuring large windows and industrial architectural elements from the late 19th century.

From 1894 to 1914, this manufacturing center employed 2,000 workers, primarily women, who produced cigars and tobacco powder by hand.

The facility transformed from an industrial site to an educational institution in 1996, now housing lecture halls and research facilities for Toulouse-Capitole University.

Located at 21 Allées de Brienne, the building contains academic spaces, conference rooms, and a university library open to students and researchers.

The roofs and facades received official heritage protection status in 1990, preserving the industrial heritage while adapting to modern educational needs.
