Piscine Alfred-Nakache of Toulouse, Historic swimming complex in Toulouse, France

Piscine Alfred-Nakache is a swimming complex in Toulouse with pools designed for different activities and skill levels. The facility features a large outdoor summer pool, dedicated areas for competitive swimming and children, plus an indoor pool operating during winter months.

Jean Montariol designed the municipal pool with engineer Charles Baruteaud under mayor Étienne Billières, and the summer pool opened in 1931; the winter pool building followed in 1934. It belonged to a wider programme of public buildings on the Île du Ramier, including a large sports complex. The complex was listed as a monument historique on 21 September 1993.

The pool is named after Alfred Nakache, a swimmer and water polo player born in Constantine in 1915. Deported as a Jew to Auschwitz with his wife and daughter, he returned alone. The entrance element called the "Minaret", by architect Robert Armandary, dates from 1931.

The complex sits on Île du Ramier, beside the stadium and the former exhibition park, within a 25-hectare municipal sports park. The summer pool and the 1934 winter building with its 25 m and 16 m pools are separate facilities, so check which one is open before setting out.

The entrance element known as the "Minaret" was built in 1931 by architect Robert Armandary, separate from Jean Montariol's pool design. On the facade, a low-relief fresco in flamed sandstone by Riollet and decorative sculptures signed Parayre and Manau form an allegory of sports.
