Maison de Maurice Ravel, Historic house in Ciboure, France
The house features a rectangular facade topped with a curved gable containing an oval oculus surrounded by decorative scroll-shaped elements at 27 Quai Maurice-Ravel.
The merchant and shipowner Esteban d'Etcheto constructed this building in 1630, drawing inspiration from architectural designs he encountered during visits to Amsterdam.
Composer Maurice Ravel was born in this house on March 7, 1875, where his mother Marie Delouart chose to give birth in her hometown.
The third floor maintains its original configuration with a paneled living room and alcove overlooking the quay, while the building now serves as a tourist office.
Cardinal Mazarin resided in this residence from May to June 1660 during the wedding celebrations of Louis XIV to the Spanish Infanta.
