Château de Boisy

The Château de Boisy is a castle in the Loire Valley with a fifteenth-century keep surrounded by moats. Its facades and roofing are protected as registered historical monuments and define this fortified residence.

Jacques Coeur acquired the castle in 1447, but after his downfall in 1455, the property passed to Guillaume Gouffier, the king's first chamberlain. Under Gouffier family rule, the castle gained its later aristocratic features.

The castle displays features from different periods, ranging from medieval fortifications to later modifications by the Gouffier family. These layers remain visible in its walls and interior layout today.

The castle is located in the Loire Valley in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, about 4 kilometers from the village of Saint-Haon-le-Châtel. The setting allows for easy exploration as part of a tour of local landmarks.

The Bief de Boisy is a canal constructed during Jacques Coeur's ownership that displays a notable system of ponds. This sophisticated water management is a rare example of medieval engineering in the region.
