Château de la Flambelle, 18th-century château in Purpan, Toulouse, France.
Château de la Flambelle is an 18th-century manor house on an 8,000 square meter (86,000 square foot) estate in Toulouse. The main building displays classical architectural features, and the grounds include a distinctive octagonal dovecote with a domed roof.
The manor house was built in 1740 by Jean Roux-Guy de la Flambelle and shaped the estate from that point onward. The dovecote is older, dating to the early 1600s, showing that the site's agricultural use began well before the main residence.
The estate reflects how the local gentry lived in the Toulouse region, with outbuildings and service areas arranged for a working property. Visitors can sense how a noble family divided their time between urban and rural life.
The property is currently closed to the public as it remains in private hands and is not accessible for visits. Plans for redevelopment into exhibition and residential spaces may change its status in the future.
The dovecote features four triangular dormers crowning its octagonal dome, a distinctive design detail that reflects the craftsmanship of the period. These architectural touches remain understated elements that help define the estate's character.
