Château de Pompadour

Château de Pompadour is a medieval fortress and national stud farm located in the town of Arnac-Pompadour. The architecture displays a south wing with round towers, a covered walkway featuring defensive parapets, and a gatehouse opening onto a raised terrace overlooking the grounds.

The fortress was founded in the 11th century and underwent its most significant change when King Louis XV granted it to Madame de Pompadour in 1745. This royal gift marked a turning point that eventually led to the establishment of a national stud farm within its walls.
