Pic de Courmettes is a mountain summit in the Alpes-Maritimes region northwest of Nice, rising above a landscape of rocky slopes and sparse vegetation. The plateau near the top provides space to rest and take in the surroundings comfortably.
Local herders and farmers used this peak as a landmark for centuries before it became known as a hiking destination. Formal trails developed in the 20th century as the region opened to recreation and mountain activities.

The climb is steep and requires sturdy hiking boots with good grip for rocky sections. Shade is limited on the upper stretches, so starting early and bringing water and sun protection are important.
