Église Saint-Acheul

The Église Saint-Acheul is a church in Amiens featuring a classical stone facade with Tuscan pilasters, a semicircular arched entrance, and a triangular pediment crowning the main window. The building displays the harmonious proportions and refined design typical of 18th-century construction.

The site was founded in 1085 as an Augustinian abbey built over Saint Firmin's grave, with the current structure rebuilt entirely between 1750 and 1770 in classical style. This reconstruction transformed a medieval shrine into an example of Enlightenment-era architecture.

The interior displays stone carvings from the 15th century showing scenes from Saint Firmin's life, along with ancient sarcophagi and liturgical sculptures. These works reflect the deep religious importance this place has held for worshippers over centuries.
