Parc de l'île Saint-Germain

The Parc de l'île Saint-Germain is an expansive riverside park featuring open lawns, walking paths, planted gardens, and sculptures throughout the grounds. The space includes a discovery area with an ecological pond and organic vegetable beds where visitors can observe plants and wildlife.

The site was first planned in 1964 as a port facility, but the community chose to transform it into a public park instead. It opened to visitors in 1981, marking a shift in how this riverbank area would be used.

The artworks scattered throughout, particularly Jean Dubuffet's contributions, shape how visitors experience the space and encourage encounters with contemporary art while walking outdoors. These pieces blend into the landscape, creating moments of discovery as you move through different areas.

The park is open daily and accessible via RER Line C to Issy-Val-de-Seine station or Tram T2 to Les Moulineaux station. Wearing comfortable walking shoes is advisable since the terrain varies and pathways have different surfaces.

The park features a distinctive Tower of Figures created by Jean Dubuffet, available for guided tours that reveal the artist's approach and vision. This installation stands out as a highlight for those curious about contemporary sculptural works.
