Le Haut Mincé

Le Haut Mincé is a castle in Baugé-en-Anjou with stone walls built from limestone and greystone materials. The building shows layers of construction and modification from the medieval period through the 1900s and remains a private residence.

During the Hundred Years War, between 1357 and 1363, the castle came under attack from armed groups and was partially destroyed. These conflicts left lasting damage to the building.

The chapel and outbuildings here are part of France's official heritage record, recognized since the 1980s for their value to the region. These designations reflect how the property is viewed by cultural authorities today.

The castle is located in Baugé-en-Anjou in the Maine-et-Loire department within the Pays de la Loire region and is privately owned. Since it functions as a residence, visitors should approach respectfully and respect the privacy of those who live there.

Two merchants from Angers bought and restored this aging building in the 1970s without knowing about its medieval past. Their restoration work eventually uncovered the castle's historical importance.
