Grand Meyret

Grand Meyret is an Alpine summit in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region with rocky slopes and expansive views across the surrounding valleys. The mountain is accessible through several marked hiking routes that start from nearby villages.

This summit sits along ancient paths used by shepherds for seasonal livestock movements across the Alps for centuries. These routes connected different grazing areas and continue to shape how people travel through the mountains today.

Local herders have shaped these slopes through centuries of seasonal grazing, and you can still see how their traditions influence the mountain landscape today. The pastoral way of life remains visible in how the land is used and maintained.

The best hiking season is from June to September when snow has melted and trails are most accessible. Bring sturdy hiking boots and weather-appropriate clothing, as mountain conditions can change quickly.

Wild ibex and chamois live year-round on these rocky slopes and can often be spotted by patient observers. These animals are surprisingly common in the area, making wildlife watching a genuine part of the visit.
