Fort de l'Olive, Military fortification in Briançon, France.

The Fort de l'Olive stands at 2,239 meters altitude, featuring rectangular walls and covering 2.5 hectares above the Clarée Valley.

Built in 1881 as part of the Séré de Rivières defense system, the fort controlled access to the Col de l'Echelle, Col des Thures, and Col des Acles.

The fort represents French military engineering from the late 19th century, designed to protect the border against potential Italian invasions.

Visitors can reach the fort through a 7.65-kilometer hiking trail starting from the parking area after the Clarée bridge in Plampinet village.

During the 1940 Italian invasion, Fort de l'Olive engaged in artillery exchanges with Fort Jafferau located in Bardonecchia across the border.
