Tbilisi Zoo, Zoo in central Tbilisi, Georgia
The Tbilisi Zoo spans 70 hectares in the Vere River valley, housing 300 species including white lions, Asian elephants, white rhinoceros, and Caucasian wildlife.
Founded in 1927 with four sections dedicated to local fauna, USSR species, exotic creatures, and agricultural animals, the zoo established its first parasitology laboratory in 1931.
The facility serves as an educational center where visitors learn about Georgian wildlife conservation efforts and observe animals from the Caucasus region.
The zoo operates daily from 10:00 AM to 19:00 PM with different admission rates for children under 3 years, ages 3-12, and visitors above 12 years.
In 2015, a severe flood damaged the zoo infrastructure, causing animals to escape into the city streets before the facility reopened three months later.
