Naantali, Coastal town in Southwest Finland.

Naantali is a town spread across multiple islands in the Finnish archipelago, featuring a medieval stone church and a waterfront lined with wooden buildings. The wooden structures and natural surroundings shape the place's character, which becomes apparent as you walk through it.

The town started in 1443 when King Christopher of Bavaria granted trading rights to a Brigittine convent called Vallis Gratiae. This religious foundation shaped its early development and importance as a trading center in the region.

The Moominworld theme park on Kailo island brings stories by Tove Jansson to life through buildings, exhibits, and performances. Visitors can directly experience the world of these beloved characters and understand their place in Finnish culture.

Regular bus connections link the town to Turku, giving access to the regional transportation network. Most areas are easy to reach on foot, as the islands are compact and well connected by walkable paths.

The Kultaranta estate with its granite walls and extensive gardens serves as the summer residence of Finland's president and is a notable architectural ensemble in the region. The property shows how the presidential residence blends into the island landscape without overwhelming it.
