Åland Maritime Museum

The Åland Maritime Museum displays an extensive collection of ship models, navigational instruments, and maritime artifacts across two floors near the harbor.

Founded in 1954, the museum preserves the regional seafaring heritage from the era when wooden sailing ships dominated maritime trade routes.

The exhibition 'What does a sailor without a ship do?' presents Runar Husell's detailed ship model crafted during his World War II imprisonment.

The museum operates daily with extended hours from June through August, 10:00 to 17:00, and reduced hours from September through May, 11:00 to 16:00.

The museum houses one of the few remaining authentic pirate flags in the world, alongside a collection of sailor-gathered specimens from global voyages.
