Pyhätunturi, Fell and mountain summit in Pelkosenniemi, Finland
Pyhätunturi extends for ten kilometers in an east-west direction, reaching an elevation of 540 meters at its highest peak, Noitatunturi.
The mountain formations originated over two billion years ago as part of an ancient mountain range, with erosion leaving primarily hard quartzite structures.
The area contains significant Sami cultural sites, including ancient sacrificial locations and worship spots near Uhriharju and Karhunjuomalampi.
The mountain offers 15 skiing slopes and nine lifts, with facilities including accommodation, rental services, restaurants, and marked hiking trails.
Between Kultakero and Ukonhattu peaks lies Isokuru, a steep-walled gorge stretching nearly one kilometer with wooden boardwalks along its rocky bottom.
