Kallo Lighthouse, Maritime lighthouse in Pori, Finland.
Kallo Lighthouse is an octagonal iron tower rising 8 meters from a granite foundation, positioned near the Gulf of Bothnia coast. The structure contains two stacked light sources designed to guide ships navigating the waters.
An original lighthouse built in 1851 was destroyed during the Crimean War, and rebuilt in 1903 following designs by architect Gustaf Nyström. This reconstruction marked a new chapter in the area's maritime infrastructure.
The wooden buildings surrounding the site date back to the late 1800s and remain protected landmarks. They give the area a sense of continuity with maritime traditions of the past.
The site is accessible by car via an embankment road from Mäntyluoto, roughly 20 kilometers from central Pori. Parking is available, and the location provides easy access for visitors exploring the coast.
The grounds house a yacht club that ranks among Finland's oldest sports organizations, along with a coast guard station and pilot facilities. These operations demonstrate how the site remains active in maritime activities today.
