Säppi lighthouse, Cultural heritage lighthouse in Eurajoki, Finland.
Säppi lighthouse is a brick tower rising 31 meters on the Bothnian Sea coast in Eurajoki. The cylindrical structure has a balcony and a red lantern dome that guides vessels safely through these waters.
The tower was designed by architect Hampus Dalström in 1873 to replace an older hexagonal daymark from 1852. This change reflects how maritime navigation improved over time with better structures.
The lighthouse stands as a reminder of Finland's deep ties to seafaring and maritime trade along the coast. Visitors can observe how this structure defined navigation and safety for generations of sailors passing through these waters.
The lighthouse sits on the coast and is most accessible during the warmer months from May to October. Wear sturdy shoes, as the ground and coastal paths can be uneven and slippery in places.
The lighthouse operates fully automated and runs on solar panels, making it completely self-sufficient today. Its light is visible up to 20 kilometers across the sea, guiding ships safely even in poor weather conditions.
