Evo Hiking Area

Evo Hiking Area is a state hiking area in Hämeenlinna and Padasjoki featuring more than 70 kilometers of marked trails through forests, lakes, and hilly terrain. The landscape was shaped by glacial activity and offers diverse natural environments for walking and exploration.

The area demonstrates the evolution of Finnish forestry practices over time, with sites showcasing traditional forest management techniques. These methods reflect how local communities have interacted with and sustained the woodland landscape.

The area serves as a teaching forest for HAMK University of Applied Sciences, supporting environmental education programs. You can observe how the landscape is actively used for learning and research activities.

Facilities throughout the area include campfire sites, cooking shelters, toilets, and designated camping spots for overnight stays. Good walking shoes and supplies like water and snacks are advisable since trails pass through remote sections away from towns.

The forest landscape contains a network of lakes and ponds where elk, lynx, and beavers live in their natural habitats. These wild animals shape the woodland ecology and create visible signs of their presence throughout the trails.
