Gumböle manor

Gumböle is a manor house in Espoo featuring a main building from 1797 that was renovated in 1915 with a distinctive colonnade and plastered exterior walls. The property includes several structures and is set within a natural landscape that preserves the historic character of the grounds.

The estate was founded in 1556 when King Gustav Vasa merged nearby villages into a single property. The current main building dates from 1797 and was later enhanced with neoclassical details.

The building has served as the official residence of Espoo's Mayor since 1969, with the upper floors dedicated to this role. The ground floor remains in use for municipal purposes, creating a blend of public and private functions within the same structure.

A stone bridge adjacent to the building is Finland's oldest bridge and remains passable today. The site is easy to access and gives visitors a complete sense of the historic estate.

From 1987 to 2016, a large barn on the property operated as the Espoo Riding Stable, giving the historic estate an unexpected role in local horse sports. This use shaped the life of the grounds for several decades.
