Pyhtää Church, Gothic church in Pyhtää, Finland.
Pyhtää Church is a rectangular wooden building in Gothic style with a bell tower built between 1795 and 1797. Its interior is lit by stained glass windows designed by Lennart Segerstråle in 1939.
The building was constructed in 1460 by the Master of Pernå and is one of the oldest structures in the region. During the Reformation, wall paintings were whitewashed over but were later discovered and restored.
The church stands in a bilingual community where Finnish and Swedish are both used. This reflects the long shared history between both countries in the region.
The church is located at Harjuntie 11 in Pyhtää and is easy to find. Visitors should check local service times since it continues to function as a religious center for the community.
The structure uses pointed arches and ribbed vaults that allow for large window openings. These architectural features flood the interior with natural light and create a bright, open feeling.
