Kaunispää Fell

Kaunispää Fell is a mountain summit in Saariselkä that rises 438 meters above sea level and offers views across the Lapland wilderness. A paved road leads to the top, where visitors find a restaurant, a viewing platform, and a toboggan run that stretches roughly 1.8 kilometers down the slope.

This fell began to develop as a recreational area in the mid-twentieth century as the region gained importance for tourism. The nearby Urho Kekkonen National Park, established in 1983, played a key role in bringing attention and visitors to the area.

The fell holds meaning for the Sami people of Lapland, whose presence shapes the identity of this northern region. Their traditional way of life remains woven into the land and its rhythms.

Reaching the summit is straightforward by car, with a well-maintained road and ample parking available at the top. The site offers comfortable facilities, including dining options and sheltered areas where you can rest and take in the surroundings.
