Käräjämäki-Osmanmäki is an Iron Age grave field near the Eurajoki river, extending across a sand ridge. The site contains over 200 burial depressions from different periods and is maintained as a public archaeological area by Finnish authorities.
The grave field shows continuous use from the 6th to 12th centuries with burials from different cultural periods. Cremations from the Migration Period and traditional graves from the Viking Age document a long history of settlement and use at this location.
The name Käräjämäki refers to a historical court site where the community gathered to settle local matters. The northern section still shows clear traces of these earlier gatherings through stone arrangements that shape the landscape.
The site is publicly accessible and features informational signs explaining the archaeological findings throughout the area. Visitors should expect uneven terrain and wear sturdy footwear to explore the grave field comfortably.
One burial is known as the Swordsman's Grave because it contains weapons such as a sword and shield parts. Along with a yellow whetstone that symbolized high social status, this discovery reveals the importance of the person buried there.
