The Mashal's Cabin, Historic hunting lodge and restaurant at Lake Punelia, Finland
The Mashal's Cabin is a wooden building at Lake Punelia that now combines a museum and restaurant. It features a main living room, multiple fireplaces, a kitchen, and sleeping areas that reflect the space's original purpose.
The building was constructed in 1942 by Finnish soldiers as a birthday gift for a senior military leader. After the war ended, it was taken apart in sections and transported to its current location.
The name refers to Marshal Mannerheim, a central military figure in Finland's wartime history. Today the place lets visitors experience a commander's world through the objects and rooms preserved inside.
The site is accessible during warmer months and offers both self-guided exploration and guided visits. Visitors should note that opening times are seasonal and the venue accommodates a limited number of guests.
The building is not located at its original site but was entirely moved and rebuilt piece by piece. This relocation makes it a remarkable structure whose very walls tell a story of movement and preservation.
