Zrin

Zrin is a small settlement in Sisak-Moslavina County, spread across roughly 15 square kilometers within the Municipality of Dvor. Medieval castle remains stand on elevated ground, while the village today is home to only a handful of permanent residents.

The castle functioned as a Croatian stronghold during Ottoman conflicts until its capture in 1577. This conquest ended local control and altered the course of the entire region's development.

Two damaged churches stand within the settlement and serve the local community as gathering places. Memorials throughout the site reflect moments that shaped the area and remain part of everyday life here.

The location sits in a rural area with limited infrastructure and minimal tourist facilities. Visitors should prepare for simple conditions and gather information before traveling, as the site remains quite remote.

This place gave its name to the prominent Zrinski noble family, who wielded regional influence for centuries. The connection between the site and this powerful family makes it a point of interest for genealogy enthusiasts.
