Mirkovci extends southeast of Vinkovci, separated from the main town by the Vinkovci-Gunja railway line, maintaining its distinct settlement character.
The area shows continuous habitation since Neolithic times, later becoming part of the Roman Empire's Colonia Aurelia Cibalae during Emperor Caracalla's reign.
